Other health properties of the new watermelon that researchers have verified that have carried out the experiment is that it has beneficial effects on patients with diabetes or cardiovascular diseases.
The researchers of the Platform have also been able to develop a type of strawberry whose high content of antioxidants allows it to provide, with a single ration, 60% of the daily requirements of vitamin C and 27% of the plant oxidants in the diet . In addition, this strawberry is rich in potassium, so it helps control blood pressure levels, and contains a smaller amount of carbohydrates and sodium.
The experts working on this project intend to solve the challenge that the progressive increase of the population makes it increasingly necessary to produce more food in a limited arable land, which has also been degraded over the years, and with a water supply that has also decreased.
